Read Share Recycle

Why recycle magazines?
Magazines Canada, along with Canada’s top magazines, encourages readers to recycle their magazines once they’ve been read and shared with others. Our goal is to increase the number of magazines that are placed in Blue Bins and recycled after use. Not only will recycled magazines decrease waste going to landfill, but recycled magazines are valuable raw resources for creating other paper products that Canadians use every day.

What happens to old magazines that are recycled?
Recycling gives your favourite magazine a new life. After being enjoyed and shared multiple times, magazines are recycled into lots of useful, everyday items. Every time you recycle used magazines, they give life to new products such as:

  • cereal boxes and shoe boxes

  • egg cartons

  • paper bags and boxes

  • tissues

  • newsprint

  • coffee sleeves

  • writing papers, and too many other products to mention here.

Recycling means fewer trees are used to make everyday products. It’s the right thing to do and helps create a sustainable environment. The more magazines that get recycled, the more products that can be made: Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

What can you do?

  • Read and enjoy your favourite magazines

  • Share your magazine with friends and family

  • Recycle your magazine by placing it in your Blue Box

Whenever you see the Read Share Recycle logo, remember to give your magazine a new life.

Do your part for a sustainable environment.
